The sensor and active sensor bearing both turned out to be fine and functional, as were the connectors and electric harness. It turned out that the sensor mounting had been knocked slightly out of place somehow. First step was to replace the brake switch, but to no effect. Second step was to remove fuse one from the engine bay panel (BSI), scrape the holder blades and clean the tarnish off the fuse. That seems to have fixed it. Handbrake - broken wire found in the rear harness so again a fairly easy fix after i had dropped the diesel tank. But then the ABS, I have 2 reoccurring fault codes, C0037 95 & C003A 95. Both point to the rear abs sensor and a wiring fault. So far I have rewired the abs sensors in the rear harness into the cabin. No fix. .
